RENEWING OURSELVES MIND, BODY AND SOUL: PART 1

spirit-6In 2017, we are focused on mind, body and soul in order to refocus our minds as the Divine Mind of unlimited wisdom; to rebuild our bodies in the awareness that we are the image and likeness of God – with dominion over the world of flesh; and to reclaim our souls as the pure energy of Spirit.  As Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “[t]here is but one universal mind, [and all humanity] are inlets and outlets of that One.”  This year, we can re-center in the awareness that we are inlets to and outlets of God: inlets to a divine spirit5intelligence, and outlets to the love that we are called to express.

THE MIND

Our journey uplifting our mental faculties will be taken from our journey through the Bible.  The most important tools to assist you on this path are BIBLEGATEWAY and TRUTH UNITY‘s amazing online resources, which are online and free of cost.  Last Sunday, we focused on Proverbs 20.

Proverbs 20:1 says “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler;  And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.”  Wine or strong drink is, a mocker, because it promises much, but fails to fulfill its promises. Drink makes brawlers of those who indulge in it to excess. But so many things, other than alcohol fail to fulfill their promise, including drugs, food, lust, clothing, ego, money, and even social media.  When we worship these things, bible 5they become false idols, preventing us from addressing the change that we really need to see take place.  As Thich Nhat Hanh says in his book Fidelity: How to Create a Loving Relationship That Lasts, “[a]ll of us feel lonely and empty inside sometimes. When we have these feelings, we try to fill the vacuum by consuming food or alcohol, or by engaging in sexual activity. Yet, even while we are enjoying these things, the empty feeling not only persists but becomes deeper than before.”

Proverbs 20:3 says “[I]t is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; but every fool will be quarreling.”  We quarrel when we fail to listen deeply, as well as to use loving speech to resolve our differences.  One of the best guides to use to stay aloof or above strife is Luke 6:31, which says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

12-powers-wholeTHE BODY

Scientists say that if the electronic energy stored in a single drop of water were suddenly released  its power would demolish a six-story building. So, who can estimate the power stored in the millions of cells that compose the human body? We have more physical energy, strength, stamina, endurance, and power than we could ever imagine. We chop boards with a single hand; we lift vehicles to rescue others; we swim from shore to shore merely to challenge ourselves.

Jesus said destroy my temple, which was the temple of his body, and in three days, I will raise it up.  Our bodies have the power of transforming energy from one plane of consciousness to another. This is the power and dominion implanted in humanity from the beginning.

“God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.'” (Charles Fillmore, from The Twelve Powers of Man) Fillmore’s 12 Powers is on Amazon.com for free; just click the link embedded here.

This year, we will devote a number of our discussions concerning the body to both Charles and Cora Fillmore’s discussion of the zones of power reflected in our body temples.

great-spirit4THE SOUL

Our discussion of the soul will take us on a fascinating journey like never before.  In Consciousness Transformed, Joel Goldsmith says “[t]he goal is releasing the Soul from the tomb of human existence, more especially the tomb of the human mind. In your periods of introspection or contemplation check to see to what extent you are imprisoned in your mind and body.”  Joel says that “[a]s far as most humans are concerned, anything that is not in the mind or body does not exist, and this extends into the highest realms of the educated. In fact, very often the greater the education the greater the imprisonment.”  He explains that we “do not realize that God is the Soul of man. You can never find the kingdom of God until you have entered into the awareness of your own Soul.”  This is the year to embrace the kingdom of God in our own souls.

Paul said “I die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31).  Each day, our cells regenerate new cells, and our bodies are transformed.  Each day, we spiritreconnect with Divine Mind in a new way.  Each day we move toward the release of the soul from the appearances of bondage in mind and body, so that we are set free.  As Joel says, my own soul “is too pure to behold iniquity, therefore it has no remembrance of my past sins. . . . I acknowledge my past offenses and I am sorry,  but let that all be bygones and let us begin over again.”  (Joel Goldsmith, Consciousness Transformed)

When we realize the full power of the Kingdom of God expressing as us, we can do the greater things that we are here to do, and we can come to the altar of our faith, asking for nothing because we know through our minds, bodies and souls that we have everything that we need.

Namaste.
